High School ACT Preparation and College Readiness

At Paradigm, we strive to prepare scholars for their future. As a part of our curriculum, we require our 11th graders to take both ACT prep and college readiness. It is our hope that after our scholars graduate, they’ll be ready to take the next step in their education and enroll in college.

What is The ACT?

The ACT test is a national college admissions test and, like the SAT exam, is accepted by all 4-year colleges and universities in the United States. The ACT test comprises subject area achievement tests in four areas: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science.

The overall goal of our ACT prep course is to help our scholars gain the confidence they need and get rid of any testing anxieties. Because of this, on average, Paradigm scholars score higher than the average Utah student.

Preparing For The ACT

The ACT is a state-funded test and 11th graders in the State of Utah are given the opportunity to take the test for free. This is a great opportunity and we encourage all scholars to register. For additional help on registering, our counselors are available to scholars.

On test day, we provide snacks and water for before and after, but it is important that scholars are prepared as well. Scholars should bring:

  • A photo ID and your printed pre-registration ticket
  • A sharpened, soft lead No. 2 pencils with good erasers
  • A four-function, scientific or graphing calculator

College Preparation

We believe that one of the best ways to prepare our scholars for college is by teaching them to become independent thinkers instead of receivers of information. We don’t want our scholars to memorize information, repeat it, and forget what they’ve learned after a test. Instead, we want our scholars to focus on quality and own their education.

To help further prepare our scholars, questions from the ACT are incorporated into everyday learning so students can become familiarized with them early on. It is our mission to prime our scholars for success, whatever their future endeavors may be.

  • I love Paradigm. My children have never been happier, and have found a love of learning that was missing in their previous education!

I went to Paradigm all through high school. Best experience ever. Not only did it help me focus on my strengths, but it also prepared me for college with its challenging curriculum that makes you think outside the box. The mentors there care about each of their students individually, and want nothing more than the students’ success.
