We have been the recipients of some incredible grants this year and we wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU!

Rocky Mountain Power Foundation gave us the opportunity to send one of our STEM mentors to a professional development conference in California. Being able to send teachers to these types of conferences helps them to learn and grow as a teacher, which then translates to success in the classroom! RMP has also awarded us a grant that will allow us to purchase some school vehicles for student transportation!

Sorenson Legacy Foundation gifted us a grant that has allowed us to host our Master Musician Clinics this year! These clinics have brought in professional musicians who taught small clinics to our band and orchestra scholars. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity!

Utah State Library through LSTA has given us a grant that allowed us to purchase our STEM Ocean Discovery Backpacks, the STEAM MakerSpace, new science books for our library, and Spanish and Chinese language books and games! Thank you for your generosity!

Our Chinese 1 Scholars took a field trip to the Chinatown Supermarket and New Golden Dragon restaurant last week! They were able to experience an authentic Chinese lunch and learn more about the culture. Our library has been doing some fantastic work serving the community and around the world for #GivingNovember!
✨
First, Eyes4zimbabwe is a charity aimed at curing Zimbabweans from the cataract eye disease (a disease which makes people blind). In Zimbabwe alone there are over 80,000 children suffering from the disease. With a simple 10 minute surgery, which costs as little as $20, eye sight can be restored within 24 hours. Every year, this organization takes clothes, school supplies, textbooks, and other needed supplies to Zimbabwe. We had a lot of outdated math and science textbooks that we couldn’t sell back, so we decided to donate them! Thank you to all of the scholars who helped pack them up and to Mrs. McCoy and Mr. Frydrych for delivering them!

Second, our library has been collecting plastic grocery bags and they are turning them into sleeping mats for the homeless! A lot of scholars have been helping out with this project and we appreciate all of your efforts! We started this project a few weeks ago and we’re on our 3rd mat. If you’d like to help, please donate your grocery bags to the library and talk to Mrs. McCoy to find out how you can help put them together!
