Our Prep Academy

Make the transition between home-school and charter school easier with our Prep Academy option! As part of our unique charter school, 7th and 8th grade scholars can choose to come to school for as much or little of the day as they want. This is the perfect option for parents who want to transition to home-school their scholars or choose to ease their scholars into public school.

If you have any questions about enrolling your scholar into our prep academy then give us a call or fill out the form, and we can guide you through the process!

What is Prep Academy?

Our Prep Academy is ideal for 7th & 8th grade scholars who have been homeschooled in the past and would like to make the transition to our public school with a part-time schedule, but the class is open to all scholars.

Part of our Prep Academy is our Academy Seminar course. This is similar to our regular seminar course, except scholars will meet on A days (Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday) during 2nd and 3rd period. This class allows your scholar to homeschooled on B days and attend Paradigm on A days. Scholars will earn middle school credit in Language Arts and Utah History or US History. You can then enroll in as many other classes as you wish!

Transition Your Student From Homeschool to Charter School

Our prep academy is a great way to help your homeschooled scholar transition into Paradigm Schools. Typically, our homeschooled students will learn math and science at home and come to Paradigm to participate in art, music, or theater, things they wouldn’t typically learn at home.

Make Transitioning to Public School Smooth

Transitioning from homeschool to a public charter school shouldn’t be an intimidating process. Paradigm Schools is founded by people who believe in the power of homeschooling. We can help make the transition smooth for your child to go from homeschooling to public school with the Prep Academy.

This not only works for those wanting to begin public education but also the other way around. The Prep Academy can also help those who have been a part of public schools transition to homeschooling. You’ll have the full support of our staff and mentors on what you decide is best for your scholar.

Why Prep Academy?

You want the best for your child, and we want the best for your scholar. At Paradigm Schools, we offer more opportunities for your child to grow into the best person they can become. Here are some opportunities your child has when starting the prep academy:

We’re Preparing Your Scholars For Their Futures

We’re preparing your child for a brighter future by teaching them how to think, not what to think.

Our Prep Academy class is structured similarly to our Seminar classes for high school. The Prep Academy classes include American History and Utah History combined with Family History. Although, the Prep Academy is more than just history classes. We teach skills our scholars can use in English and language arts as well.

We believe in only using original sources, and you can take a closer look at our book list and the types of content we read throughout the year during the Prep Academy.

We’re Experts in Homeschooling

We know exactly what homeschooling is like! That’s why Paradigm Schools is an amazing place to start if you’re making a transition to a public charter school. Many of our staff members and mentors are experts in homeschooling and many of those involved with Paradigm Schools have had experience with it, too.

Shadowing Opportunities

Not sure what the best plan is for your scholar? We can give your child a chance to shadow one of our other scholars who participate in the Prep Academy, so they can discover what the school year would be like for them!

Your Scholar Isn’t Alone

One of the great things about the Prep Academy is that your child is involved with other scholars from similar backgrounds in schooling. We’ve seen our scholars include those who feel different to form tight-knit friendships that last.

Your scholar can also experience extracurricular activities such as clubs, field trips, or service opportunities when circumstances permit to be more involved with those who know what it’s like to be homeschooled.

Prepare Scholars For High School

We prepare scholars to be ready for their experiences beyond 7th and 8th grade and into high school and beyond! By teaching them how to think and not what to think, our scholars are ready to think critically, problem-solve and be better prepared for the world ahead.

Be a Part of the Paradigm Family

If you are ready to learn more about what Paradigm has to offer you and your family, we’d love to meet you and tell you more about us! testimonials

  • I love Paradigm. My children have never been happier, and have found a love of learning that was missing in their previous education!

    Julia H.

I went to Paradigm all through high school. Best experience ever. Not only did it help me focus on my strengths, but it also prepared me for college with its challenging curriculum that makes you think outside the box. The mentors there care about each of their students individually, and want nothing more than the students’ success.
