A Look Inside A Classical, Liberal Arts Education

What if education could be about more than memorizing information and preparing for the next test?

At Paradigm Schools, we believe scholars deserve an education that teaches them how to think, not simply what to think. Our classical, liberal arts approach is designed to challenge scholars academically while giving them the confidence, independence, and leadership skills they need to thrive beyond the classroom.

Founded in 2006 by a group of homeschooling families, Paradigm was built on principles of freedom, family involvement, and classical education. Today, we continue to offer a learning experience that looks beyond the traditional classroom.

So, what makes a Paradigm education different?

We Put Families at the Center of Education

At Paradigm, we believe parents are the primary educators of their children. That means we view families as partners in a scholar’s education, not simply as spectators.

Our goal is to be a valuable resource for families while creating a school community where parents, teachers, and scholars work together toward the same goal: helping each scholar reach their potential.

Scholars Learn From the Classics and Original Sources

Rather than relying on traditional textbooks, our curriculum is guided by the classics and original sources.

This approach encourages scholars to engage directly with ideas, ask questions, participate in meaningful discussions, and develop their own understanding of the material.

Learning becomes more than finding the right answer. Scholars are challenged to think critically, communicate clearly, and form thoughtful conclusions.

Learning Is Personalized and Hands-On

Small class sizes allow teachers to know their scholars and better understand how they learn.

Our classrooms emphasize discussion, exploration, and hands-on application. Scholars aren’t simply sitting back and receiving information. They are actively participating in their education.

We also encourage scholars to pursue projects, interests, and opportunities that allow them to discover their strengths and develop their individual talents.

Scholars Have Opportunities to Lead

Leadership at Paradigm doesn’t only happen in a classroom.

Scholars are encouraged to take ownership of their interests by creating and participating in scholar-led clubs. Club offerings can change from year to year based on the interests of our scholars.

With the support of mentors and approval based on Paradigm’s mission and values, scholars can turn their interests into opportunities to connect, create, and lead.

We Prepare Scholars for College and Beyond

A Paradigm education is designed to prepare scholars for what comes next, whether that means college, a career, or another path.

Our 7th and 8th grade preparatory courses build a strong foundation in areas such as mathematics, science, and the arts. In grades 9–12, scholars continue developing the academic skills and independence needed for higher education and future careers.

Beginning in 11th grade, scholars also participate in ACT preparation designed to strengthen testing strategies, provide practice opportunities, and build confidence as they prepare for college.

Most importantly, we want scholars to leave Paradigm as independent thinkers who are prepared to take ownership of their education and their future.

Fine Arts Are an Essential Part of the Experience

We believe a well-rounded education should make room for creativity, expression, and the development of individual talents.

Our fine arts and liberal arts programs give scholars opportunities to explore areas such as:

  • Art, including drawing, painting, ceramics, graphic design, 3D art, and calligraphy
  • Dance, from introductory technique courses to our competitive dance company
  • Orchestra
  • Band, including beginning, concert, and jazz band
  • Choir, including Bel Canto, Men’s Chorus, A Cappella, and Madrigals
  • Theater, with an annual musical and Shakespeare production

Our staff believe in providing scholars with the guidance and support they need to succeed in fulfilling their dreams and aspirations.
