Beginning Sewing
For this camp, we will sew two projects.  Sewing machines are available as well as thread, scissors, needles, and any other needful thing for sewing.  For all fabric, please wash, dry, and iron before camp.  All fabric should be 100% cotton and 43” wide.  Bring all fabric for both projects on the first day. For your fabric, check the remnants bin as they are often sold at a discount!

Project #1 – Rectangular pillow.  Please bring:

  • 1/2 yard of your favorite pastel fabric with small print.  We will mix and match with the colors from other attendees to create our pillow.
  • 1/3 yard of a coordinating fabric you like (this will be the back of the pillow so white would work or the same fabric you chose a 1/2 yard of for the front).
  • A small bag of stuffing (Hobby Lobby has them for $2.99 per bag).

Project #2 – Drawstring bag.  Please bring:

  • 1/3 yard of cotton fabric
  • A spool of twill ribbon or cotton cording for strings.  We will only use one yard, but they generally only sell them by the spool.

Have you ever heard of a Cricut?  It is an amazing crafting machine that can take your projects to the next level.  A Cricut is a cutting machine that can cut several different materials for your craft projects like paper, vinyl, and cardstock. Some Cricut machines can even cut thin wood, leather, fabric and more.  We will be designing our own t-shirt, an etched glass, vinyl projects (think stickers for your water bottle!) and some fun paper crafts.  There are so many things you can do with a Cricut.  Creativity is key for this class. • I love Paradigm. My children have never been happier, and have found a love of learning that was missing in their previous education!

    Julia H.

I went to Paradigm all through high school. Best experience ever. Not only did it help me focus on my strengths, but it also prepared me for college with its challenging curriculum that makes you think outside the box. The mentors there care about each of their students individually, and want nothing more than the students’ success.
