In Fall 2019, Paradigm Schools became the first public school in the state of Utah to offer virtual and augmented reality technology to scholars. Headset devices are used to enhance learning opportunities for our scholars, allowing them to explore virtual places around the world, on another planet, or during a completely different time period. Whether it’s visiting the surface of Mars or exploring the Pyramids of Giza, this is a completely immersive learning experience.

This is it! The last push for this year’s Penny Wars fundraiser. Help us reach our goal of $25,000. All money donated will stay local to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Salt Lake City. The Hope Lodge is a place where cancer patients and their families who live more than 40 miles from their caregiver can stay for free and not worry about the burden of extra expenses while receiving treatment. It is important for us to support the Hope Lodge so that we can help provide much needed access to care for those who are living with cancer. Please consider donating, any amount helps! They’re home! After a whirlwind week on the road through southern Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, our band and orchestra scholars have completed another successful tour! They got to visit and perform at many stops, including Northern Arizona University, New Mexico State University and St. John’s College. They had a blast (and we hope Mr. Burt did too! 😆). Congratulations to our TWO Sterling Scholar Finalists! Jill and Kelln were both named finalists this week in the Wasatch Front Region. Out of hundreds of students, they are one of the final 13 in their respective categories! Paradigm’s Spider-Man Movie Fundraiser is happening TOMORROW at 12:45 pm at Megaplex at the District!
Seating for the movie will begin at 12:15 pm. If you have purchased tickets they are available for pick up in the office starting NOW! The office is open today until 3:30 pm. You may also pick them up tomorrow between 7:30 am - 12:00 pm in the office.
***We do still have tickets available! ($14, $15, and $17 seats).

Dear Parents,
Due to weather and road conditions, in-person school is suspended today. If your scholar had an Oral exam scheduled for today, that exam will be held over Zoom. Seminar mentors will email out Zoom links accordingly. If there are problems in connecting today over Zoom, Oral exams will be rescheduled for another time. But, it is our hope that we hold to the exam schedule today as much as possible.

What a cool experience! ✨ This is Mrs. McCoy. I was chosen to participate in an experience called Educators at Sea in San Diego California last month. I was was joined with 5 other educators and 5 wives of Navy pilots. I flew in an Osprey helicopter to the Naval aircraft carrier the USS Abraham Lincoln. Flying in a helicopter was quite the exhilarating experience. The back of the helicopter was open the whole time but there was no wind blowing through the cabin. We flew high above the clouds and about an hour later we landed on the deck of the aircraft carrier. A Lieutenant named Emily along with 3 others were our tour guide. We spent about 36 hours touring the ship including sleeping over night. We were considered Distinguished Visitors. The flight deck was by far the most fascinating. Everyone wore a different colored shirt depending on their job. It was amazing to see the teamwork as the planes took off and landed. We got to have dinner with the Command Master Chief & the Executive Officer. They were so down to earth and answered any questions we had. The ship houses 5,000 people. They called it a miniature city. It had everything from a mini hospital to a dentist office, library, and a media room. They produce a daily newspaper, a monthly magazine, and a yearbook. Naturally I geeked out over the library and the yearbook that being my job at Paradigm. It was fascinating how they dealt with the garbage. They recycle everything. The hallways of the ship were very narrow and each doorway had an oval shaped hole that you had to step through. They had a miniature museum about their namesake Abraham Lincoln and a special section of their library that was just devoted to the former President. (Cont. in comments)

Our final #GivingTuesday post! Our boys basketball team had their first game today against Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant and they came out victorious! This is our first year back in a competitive athletic league since we took a hiatus over 10 years ago. It has been amazing to see the transformation in our scholar athletes this year and to see the passion and drive outside of the classroom!

It’s #GivingTuesday! We would like to highlight some of the service projects that our scholars have been doing this month to celebrate!

This is Jack. Jack is a heart patient and had multiple open heart surgeries when he was younger. The Ronald McDonald House was there for his family, so he asked his Kedge class to help put together activity kits for the siblings at RMH.
What a great idea and we love that Mrs. McCoy’s kedge class put forth the time and effort in this project for good.
